Tires always end up out of round after 9-10months
Has anyone else experienced this? My 91 crx makes tires wear out of round. I do my own alignments (with a new Hunter rack) and it is always right on with the only spec different from stock is front camber at -1.3degrees.Front caster toe and rear camber and toe are always dead on. It doesn't matter which way I rotate them or how often I balance them. I always end up with a wicked vibration at 75mph and faster. I end up buying new tires to fix the vibration. Has new axles, all new prothane bushings, tie rod ends etc, NOTHING is loose or worn out. Hubs/rotors are true, bearings tight, whatever you can think of- What's the deal? I've gone through 6 different sets/brands/size of tires and still no difference. From 13" rims to 16" rims from 75 series to 40 series- nothing. Anyone have this problem? I've exhausted anything I can think of. I'm running eibach prokits w/ tokico illuminas, ST sways and bushings are ALL prothane.
I went to ET Paul tires today- They have a balancer that is the total ****. It's a $10k Hunter that loads the tire like it is riding on the road. One of them is phucked, 2 weren't balanced (our balancer must be a piece of ****-dinosaur- just balanced them 3 days ago). This thing even checks rim runout- the whole nine yards! It is possible that the rear tires were worn funny from the suspension being sloppy prior to prothane bushing install. I also noticed that the left axle isn't exactly true- I replaced it last October- I ordered another one from work (warranty baby) along with some hubs and bearings for my ex knuckles (big brakes). I'll start with that.
We have one of those at the shop. Being able to load the tire and test roadforce is the ****. Explains a lot of wheel/tire combos that were otherwise balanced but still caused speed specific vibration.
A few days ago I noticed a hole in my tire, very small and no effect on pressure. I was still worried, I took it Les Schwab and asked if I needed it fixed. They said, "give me your keys, we will have a new tire on in 20 minutes". Gasp! It was awesome, they gave me a brand new Toyo Prox FZ4 for free. I didn't even buy the tires at Les Schwab, let alone the tire insurence. I love these guys.
