Default Clean motor, dirty bay.

Ordered new motor and its all clean

only problem is, the engine bay around it is NASTY

so my idea is instead of being all complicated and **** is to do this:

get simple green and tire shine
go to car wash
Cover ENTIRE motor, and batter with a custom fit assmebly of trash bags and duct tape
simple green the bay
pressure spray/degreaser all that at the car wash around the bay
let dry
tire shine black hoses and all that.

will it work ? im one lazy bastard when it comes to scrubbing.

I would just do it at your house with a hose that way you dont have to worry about spraying a potentially hot engine with cold water after driving it arround to the car wash.

Since you're lazy I suggest you install the motor first, then follow these steps:

1. Spray FOAMY GUNK ENGINE BRITE all over the engine. Allow to sit for 15 minutes.
2. Rinse the engine completely.
3. Spray entire engine with FOAMY ARMOR ALL (IMPORTANT! it has to be the FOAMY kind, or you can catch your engine compartment on fire).
4. Start the car and close the hood for 20 (with engine running).
5. Open the hood and

stop being so lazy, roll the damn car outside, spray the bay with simple green (proper things taped up, fuel line, etc.) let it sit, spray more, rinse it out.

Yup. Do a search on H-T. You'll find tons of threads on it. It works wonders!

just cover up the important things and pressure wash it. I know several people who have used a pressure washer on their bays WHILE the motor was in there without any problems. Just don't start it for awhile and let it dry off good. As long as the battery is disconnected you don't have to worry about electrical problems.

Edit: Flame away anti-pressure washers.

I can't believe you're not gonna clean it while the engine is out. All you need is GUNK spray cleaner or any designated engine cleaner. You can do it where it sits, no water necessary.
