Newbie needs info for Integra LS
hi everyone,
Im new to this board and i just wanted to ask a few questions to the pros out there. I have a 2000 Integra LS, manual tranny, Apexi N1 full cat, mugen front strut bar, AEM cold air intake, MSD ignition wires and denso iradium plugs. What other things do you guys think I should start doing to give my car some more kick?? What can I do beside turbo??
Thanks

Everyone is into their own thing......i'm for ALL MOTOR, but I know everyone who stay's w/ the LS motor, tend to go the turbo route because of gearing of the tranny and the torque of the stock motor. It really depends what route you plan to go...

it takes a lot to make good power with that motor without going forced induction.
like someone said earlier, do a ls/vtec and raise compression with some forged pistons, throw in rods while your at it.

Get you a b20, p & p the head, some cams, header, 10.5-11.0:1 compression pistons, maybe a new intake manifold, then get a hondata s200 and get it tuned. Just some suggestions. Or just get something with VTEC.
wow thats a lot of Info. I guess I shoulda been more precise. I dont want to swap in a new engine considering mine has 29k miles, and I dont want to do a turbo or supercharger... yet. What is this LSVtec you guys always talk about? I also heard that a chip is bad cuz it tell ur car to dump more fuel and that screws up your injectors and gaskets within about 20k miles? IS that Hondata S200 chip a good investment?? I was thinking about it but I dont want to screw up my car, I just want to tune it. Also the shop by me told me that cams wouldnt do **** for an LS engine and that 4-1 headers are better than 4-2-1. I dunno what to do, so anyone with any info I would really appricate it! I was also going to get the A'pexi AFC or whatever that fuel management computer is. Also how much does it run to get pistons, cams and rods installed? I know its a lot of questions but Im lost, again any help would be really appricated!!!!
Thanks again all

research will be the most valuable thing, and by research i mean a combination of asking questions about things you don't understand and reading up on what you can do with your motor and how it will affect performance, positively and negatively. the search function on this site is pretty good.
it seems like you wanna stay all motor. although getting power from an ls motor via N/A isn't the most cost-effective way to go, i think it's cool and that's what i would do if i still had money (maybe after i graduate). look at all your options, set a goal, and do what you need to reach it.
hanging around this site and reading up on previous threads will help you plan ahead for your project. for example, don't get a 4-2-1 header if you're planning on doing a lot of motor work and increasing the amount of air/fuel going in. it will only restrict you later on as work your way towards more top end power, save up for the 4-1 header. also, you don't really need the fuel stuff until you start getting more airflow, which is where the ls motor is really lacking, so look into that...raising compressions, upgrading valvetrain, larger cams, working on the restrictive ls head. blah blah.
and don't forget, suspension is important
anyone feel free to correct me on anything if i am wrong

i think you need to find a new shop...
id get a header...maybe some pulleys...short shifters are nice...and im assuming your car is already lowered?

start small header and the rest of the bolt ons then if youre not happy then get a good set of cams and gears and atleast a safc and tune it should be good for about 150-160hp then go with a set of high compresion pistons..
take off the power steering belt, its free and its about 3-4 wheel horsepower you can really feel it, but dont take off any of the hoses unless your doing a manual steering rack.
Yeah do some research, find out what you want out of the car. If you want to drag race, autoX, or just have a fun street car. Depending on this decide on the parts you need to make the car excel. Why not get a 4-2-1? I know it will restrict top end HP numbers but at lower RPM the engine will make more HP and TQ compared to the 4-1 header. In my opinion the 4-2-1 would be a good choice for drag or street racing. JMO.
I've got an LS with low miles (31k now) and i'm in your position as well.
Don't want a swap
Can't afford turbo
Trying to manage school.
So i do litte things that keep me busy here and there. Started with an OEM Type R catback, but I see you already have an exhaust.. Then I moved onto a K&N air filter with the BSQ (ITM) Icetake intake (DIY) project.. All of this way after suspension of course.
What have you done to the car in terms of springs shocks wheels tires ? A wider wheel would definately benefit.
