Default Swaybar help

The guy who runs Suspension.com (Suspension Restoration Parts Co), someone whom I respect very much, said "A rear swaybar is the key to handling in a front-wheel drive car." What is your take on this statement, and what swaybar would you reccomend for a daily-driven 99 Si?

A good size rear-sway can definintely help with undresteer. If you drive an Si, then you already have a 14mm rear sway bar. A nice 19-22mm rear sway bar might help out some since you have a 26mm front sway bar and make the car feel more neutral. I drive an EG, so you might want to talk to some EK/Si owners to get an idea from actual experience.

yeah I have a 22 mm Progress sway in the rear of my hatch....once I get my front OEM bar installed I'm going to love it....

How would a 22mm rear bar with 21mm front bar compare to a 22mm rear with a 26mm front???

IMO, don't settle for anything less than a 22mm bar.

understeer is when the car keep wanting to go the direction it was traveling..rather than the direction you are point the wheels. feels like your car is nose heavy..

Yeah, it's basically when the car doesn't turn as much as you need it to despite cranking the wheel all the way left/right. I'd look into a Progress rear anti-sway bar. It's pretty cheap (got mine for $180), works GREAT, and mounts very solidly. If you can afford it, the Comptech RASB/tie bar combo is also good as well as bling-bling.

aye, My friend had a rear sway bar, I think 22 is what he said it was, in any case, he imediately felt the difference in handling, I will try to find what he used.

Here is one thing I dont understand about Understeer though, why do Front Wheel Drive cars have it more than rear, I would think that the front tires pulling in the direction they are pointed would help it turn faster not hurt. When I ride my sport ATV, in snow or other slick stuff, it just goes forward when I turn the wheel, but 4wd pretty much is like riding rail still, with some exception...

Well, for one because a lot of the weight is over the front and not the rear. Also, the rear tires can push the car instead of pulling it.

I believe a couple of companies offer a 23mm and Mugen offers a 26mm rear bar

Other than diameter of the bar, is there any difference resulting from the design of the bar (bends, etc.)? I have notice some are crooked and some are straight.

yes, the length from the bar centerline to the endlink GREATLY effects the roll stiffness.
