Default Spoon Flywheel and USDM starter grinding problems!

I did a search and found multiple topics about USDM starters grinding teeth with JDM flywheels such as Spoon and JUN etc. although most seem like myth, someone hearing it from another person etc. But I haven't seen anything discussed on the dangers of the grinding, life of the flywheel, or just how long the life of the starter/flywheel will last.

Well, it's been 6 months since I had my Spoon flywheel/Clutch/JDM FD into my '00 USDM R. I've had intermittent grinds every now and then, nothing seemed to be seriously wrong since I was able to start the car, even if there was a grind. But now, I don't even want to drive anywhere without stopping and turning off the car with a fear the car won't start. The grinding is up to about 40-50% of starts now. I try to remedy it by placing it in 5th and rocking the car back and forth and that seems to do the trick...also seeming really ghetto to do as well..but it's not something I really want to do all the time. I almost make Hondas look bad!

Obviously the incompatability of the US starter and JDM flywheel is getting worse day by day. Will it eventually JUST grind and not start anymore?

What do you guys think my alternative is here? Get a different flywheel besides the Spoon? Or go through the hassle of sourcing a JDM starter? Or just put in my stock flywheel with the beat up US starter?

I really don't know what to do and I don't want to spend a lot of money again..

talk to yoshi234 and mikehonda. they have jun and spoon fw's respectively. they don't seem to have any starting problems as far as i know.

[EDIT: i'm pretty sure they have the usdm starters]

I think I remember him saying "It grinds 50% of the time now" w/ the Spoon flywheel. But, I think that's all he said.

The flywheel is really meant for the jdm starter, you can switch your usdm for a b16 starter and be grind free.

Really? B16 USDM? Does it need to be from a specific B16 engine?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by B2FiNiTY &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The flywheel is really meant for the jdm starter, you can switch your usdm for a b16 starter and be grind free. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Or you can get a TODA flywheel and not worry about grinding or changing your flywheel.
