modified exhaust ticket
last night while i was in rosemead, some low life chp had nothing better to do and decided to pull me over because of my exhaust (apexi dunk). he told me he pulled me over because he could clearly hear it and pin pointed it to my car. i told him about how exhausts are supposed to be over 95 db to be illegal and he told me that who ever sold me the exhaust was just saying that so i could buy it. then i start to think to myself, "well you're only saying that so you could give me a friggin ticket!" anyway, i would've asked him for a decibel reading, but i had my younger cousin in the car w/ me and didnt want anymore trouble to come out of this. it was a good thing too because he saw that i had no front license plate, but he didnt say anything about it. anyway, with all these things i've been coming across about how modified, replacement, and/or aftermarket exhausts are legal in CA as long as they meet the 95 db requirement, how can i go about fighting this? since i live in glendale, i was planning to go to GPD and show them the papers and see if they could write off the ticket, but i dont really know if thats a good idea or not. has anyone else fought a modified exhaust ticket? any and all advice would be apprecitated. TIA
oh yeah, if it means anything, my court date is 10/1/01 over in pasadena.

I had a problem with a fix-it ticket once. I just took my car to a police station and have them sign off that I did the fixes. It's a bit hard with the exhaust but try to find a shop that has a sound tester and get it tested. If your exhaust is truly too loud try buying a used stock muffler swaping it on, get your ticket checked off, then put the dunk back on. If you're sure you're under the sound limit and have a lot of free time, contest the ticket in court.
