1989 Civic LX sedan shift linkage wobbly.
Have everythign hooked back up after swapping in a lower mileage tranny. It is in a 1989 Civic LX sedan, 5 speed manual. It will go into gear but the shifter will move all over the place. I have a black rubber band with two metal clips. Does anyone know what part of the linkage this wraps around to hold it steady? Or is it something entirely different to hold it steady?

I have to drive this car to a dealership On Tuesday to trade for a 96 Civic hb so any help would be greatly appreciated.
