Drive Shaft, torn CV boot **Question**
I have a torn CV boot (driver side) on my 99GSR and Autozone does not carry a replacement. Here are the options I have so far any thoughts?? Does anyone know of an auto store that might carry them?
Tire Kingdom - Whole axle assembley installed $139 (I was planning on an alignment this weekend already, so I will be there anyways). Are these axle assemblies weaker that stock?
Dealer - $30 for just the boot and do it myself. I have never taken off the axle but do have the helm.

autozone does carry remanufactured replacements. It's about 50-70$ plus core charge. If you want to learn more about your car I absolutely recommend diy. If you are tight on time, that tire kingdom deal sounds pretty good actually. You could just replace the boot if you caught the tear early enough, but it's one messy job. Plus youd have to buy extra grease, cleaning agent to get all the old grease out, and a cv boot clamp tool. I'd just swap the whole thing out.
im with tilt on this one. If you noticed the damage early enough, you can just replace the boot. Thats what happened with me.
If you dont want to deal with the mess, just have someone else do it.

try napa, pep boys, or kragens. I got my cv boot kit (inner and outer) from kragen. my driverside boot was ripped btw.
cost= less then $22 for both
time spent= less then 40 mins
knowledge that you did it correctlly instead of some grease monkey doing it= priceless
also it's not that hard as the poster above says^^ people who says that don't need to be working on cars in the first place if you're worried about get dirty.

Do both inner and outer boots while you're at it, don't just do one, the other boot will probably rip apart in a few weeks also..so you might as well change both and not have to worry about the other.
