Default Type R Manifold vs. Skunk 2 Manifold

i have a good deal on the itr manifold..i was wondering if the flow characteristics are the same between the 2 manifolds and if the itr manifold can be easily adapted to the gsr head. thanks..

Hi,

I have a Skunk2 and it's pretty nice. ITR needs some work to bolt to GSR head, but it can be done. I know of at least one person (fellow DFHer) who had problems. I think it was leaking and there were problems with the coolant lines. Anyway, he got a Skunk2 manifold... I guess if you know a good shop that's done the mod before, it would work out.

The Skunk2 manifold is like <$300, right? Gotta find out how much the ITR manifold + fitment would cost. I think flow characteristics should be very similar...

If you like re-routing coolant lines, go with the ITR and save some money. If not, go with the S2 IM, which bolts right up.

The S2 is modeled after the ITR so they are roughly equal perf-wise.

make your life easier and go with a Skunk2, less headaches and in the long run much cheaper trust me, also the cost is only about $60-80 more

Skunk is $280-320
ITR is $215-250 + mods

I'm very happy with my Skunk 2 manifold also. Great power gains especially with high 11.8 compression, Toda Spec B camshafts, headwork and a 9k RPM redline.

I'm happy with my skunk2 as well. However, rerouting the coolant lines, getting the new throttle cable, etc. should be warned before purchasing. And of course, the new intake. Stupid me, didn't know much when I bought it. But now I do. And i'm enjoying it with my current set-up: toda cams, cam gears, headwork, basic bolt-ons, etc. Tuning and ECU to come in a few weeks or so.

It works, but it won't produce the maximum power gains (?)
And you can't use the ITR throttle cable and bracket with the stock gs-r t-body
All learned from experience

If the USDM GSR throttle cable is the same as the JDM all you have to do is move the linkage down one hole.

I simply added a short piece of aluminum after drilling three holes in it. I haven't tested it on the car yet but there shouldn't be any clearnaces problems with this simple fix.

I plan on boring out my throttle body and going with the S2. What gains can I expect?

you can't use the stock gsr tb with the itr cable/bracket. you need to get an LS or RS tb and swap the throttle rotors so the cable can come in from the bottom.
