Default Ported P30 manifold vs Skunk2 manifold

I have a P30 intake manifold lying around and am planning/collecting parts for an 85mm sleeved/bored lsvtec. I searched on here for a couple hours about the benefits of the P30 vs. the Skunk2 and couldn't find much info. I've heard that the mid-range power with the P30 manifold is better than with the Skunk2. I'm considering sending off the P30 manifold with my head to have it ported and port-matched when the head is being ported. I'd like to hear about any experiance some of you might have with going this route.

from experience i was able to keep, if not, improve midrange by switching to an ITR/Skunk2 manifold and drastically improve top end... i think the plenum volume of the P30 manifold is somewhat limiting the flow of air into the head compared to the plenum volume of the ITR/Skunk2 manifold... if you have the budget get the Skunk2 manifold then port match that... that will yield more satisfactory gains than just sticking with the P30...

That's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for. Anyone else want to chime in?

I would say keep the p30 mani if you were staying 1.6. But you sound like you are going with big bore set up. Go with the ITR/Skunk2 setup.

I have done the same searches. I am staying 1.6 and would like to see if anyone has a dyno of the ported P30 vs. Skunk2?

y not just go with a aebs intake manifold they are only $150 and have made more power than both ITR/sk2 manis.

I came across the thread where the guy dyno tested the AEBS against the ITR manifold and there was a one horsepower increase across the powerband. Anyone else think this is a good idea? If it barely outperforms the skunk2/ITR manifolds and is cheaper then it seems too good to be true. Plus in the thread I read earlier a lot of people said it looked poorly made and it took more modification to fit than the sknunk2/ITR one's. I'm gonna give it some thought tho'.

port an aebs manifold and you could make some siiiick gains

That's kinda what I'm thinking right now. With the money I save over a Skunk2 and a few x-tra bucks I could have it ported.

My problem lies in space. I have a B16 in a first gen crx and with the P30 manifold it is about 3/8" from the firewall as it is. Does anyone know the measurements as compared to the P30 manifold? This does seem like a good option.

Anyone on here with a setup similar to what I'm building (85 mm sleeved/bored lsvtec, about 12.5:1 compression, ported head) used a ported and port-matched P30 manifold and got a dyno to put on here. I'm not as interested in peak numbers as I am a good long steady powerband. That's why I'm wondering if a ported P30 might offer the "best" of both worlds.
