cheap diy emergency "kill"/ off switch for local events..... how?
Apparently they require a "kill" switch external of the vehicle at a local track if you have relocated the battery. Requirement is that it disconnects the battery and alternator, effectively killing the car.
How can I make one for cheap on my own? Home depot shopping list anyone?

do an archive search on "kill switch" in this forum. lots of good info. basically gotta buy a 4pt switch and wire both the positive battery cable and alternator power wire to the switch. use stereo power cable is fine, or jumper cable on the cheap.

.....does it have to be a 4pt? Isn't there a way I could use a 2 point kill switch?
I was looking at the 100amp fuse under the hood and the wires that go to that... if I interrupt those, it should kill everything, right?
Bringing this one back from the dead, but procrastination has me just now trying to get this thing installed.....
{EDIT} I found some pertinent threads:[/EDIT]

You do need to disconnect both if you have an alternator. The problem is that the car will run on the juice produced by the alternator if the engine is turning so just cutting the battery won't do it. I did a bunch of shopping and the best deal I found was at Summit, if I recall correctly.

Is the idea of the kill switch *just* to shut the car off? Is it also there to kill possible ignition sources under the hood?
I run a Crane ignition and I *know* for a fact I can kill either of the two hot wires to the ignition box and the car will stop immeditately, not doubt in my mind. Why do I need to kill battery and alternator if I can kill the spark that easily?

Most rules stipulate that a kill switch disconnect the battery from the entire electrical system and shut off the car. Check yours to find out specifically what is required.

The rules most likely require what he said....should say something like this in rule book (all power must be removed from vehicle to reduce risk of further damage when an accident occurs)
