my car is throwing a tps code.....******* str tb....anyway why would it run really rich? My car idles like **** and keeps dieing.....my car smells like a ******* domestic
because teh ecu thinks the throttle plate is open, so it adds fuel, and since its not actually open, your not getting enough air to mix with all the extra gas, so it runs rich.
Are you sure you did not mix up the connectors for the TPS and the MAP? This will cause this too.

then you found out that they are in fact the same connector if you know which ones they are.
I have seen this be the case at least 10 different times.
the TPS will have a green/blk, a yel/blu, and red/blk wires.
The map will have a yel/red, red/grn, and grn/wht wires.

okay im going to double check...but im pretty shure i didnt.....i just got my tb back from str and i couldnt figure how to calibrate it and check it cause of my aftermarket wiring harness couldnt find the blue and white wire to check for varying voltages
i have a 98 civic cx hb, and its run fine before, no rough idling, have had car for about a year and some and its run fine before, no probs, but i did change prim O2 sensor, whats a map sensor (sorry newbie here), where is it located and how do i check it. valve clearance, how to fix that? and ive put same gas for a yr and never any problems

probably a P0172... (to rich code also a code 45)
Heres what can cause it...
MAP sensor
Valve Clearance to tight
bad gas
or a bad primary O2 sensor
This is all of course if your wiring is fine which it probably is unless you or anybody else have not messed with it.

yes its ran fine had the current set up for about 5 months no probs....with this of course...had countless other problems.....endless money pit
check your TP singal input it should be .49 volts with throttle close. also check referrence voltage spec. is 4.9-5.0 volts and ground should be less than .4 volts.
But make sure that the TP cali. to .49 key on engine of(KOEO).
