I've been surfing the web for a few hours and found this:

Ive been explaining this to people forever. It doesnt take much to bypass the immobilizer on Hondas. Slows a good thief 2 seconds. Alarm places have all these gadgets also. So while your getting your alarm installed, the installer can be making a blank coded key of your car. Plus they have all your info. Repo guys I know have mobile battery operated immobilizer code readers and bypass.
Lets figure how long it will take. Lets make it easy.
An ITR with a good alarm and Honda immobilizer.
1) Vin number for key- Time doesnt matter here.
2) Dissable factory or aftermarket alarm- 1-2 min depending on alarm
3) dissable immobilizer- 2-5 secs
4) start the car, put in gear- 1 sec
Another trick that thieves and repo guys do, is make your alarm go off. Some cases many of times to agravate you into hitting that button. If you park it out side at night, and that alarm keeps going off, you will hit that button to shut it up. That's when you say bye bye to your ride!!

eh I hate it when I hear news like this. Need damn pit bull and ED-209 to protect my car. We need that electricution thing in Robocop seriously and knock off few these **** holes.
TypeRmsm has an excellent understanding of this stuff I believe; I think he posted some detailed in fo on the whole process a long ways back. Basically, the immobilizer is pretty useles; IMO.
Actually I knew of way bypassing it on the ECU if you have a Honda computer too hookup to the ECU. I don't know what they actually call it. But my service managaer showed me on Honda S2000. Just poped the ecu out and reprogrammed it slightly he said it's enough to get the car running and out whereever you need it but you would need to get the key later on. But this is just when it came out..and he just crank the car up right after that with non programmed key. So there is way to mess with the ECU to make it take non programmed keys I don't know anyone cameup with better way or perment way then my service manager. But I guess nothing theif proof...there someway around everything I guess.
One way to protect yourself from would be thieves is to keep a business card between the dash and windshield over the Vin #, The other would be when you go to a Car show or Drag race Remove your Plates from your car in the parking lot before the event ( you would be amazed what thieves can find out from a Plate #)
BTW Sorry I edited the Post above I know you dont intend to help a would be thieve, But I dont want to let any scumbag, who might be reading this board, get any ideas.

Nothing beats a locked garage and a loaded gun. Said before and I'll say it again. You can sit on this board and speculate till your blue in the face. But the realities are more along the lines of this.
1. Cars left in driveways and on the street are #1 targets. Easily seen by passer-by's and anyone who may be your "friend/enemy".
2. Movie theaters, mall parking lots, unattended parking lots at your place of work.
Asking for trouble!
3. Cant agree with this whole "cyber crook" concenssus, car thiefs sleep during the day and come out at night to steal. Most dont even know how to work a mouse, let alone log onto boards like this one to "learn" how to steal cars. Fake gangsta/ricer wanna-be's are NOT the ones stealing all these Type R's! It's pro's that are doing this deed.
How many tow truck drivers have you met that are regulars on H-T?
4. Immobilizer/alarms/autolock/club/powerlock = A BIG FAT JOKE!!!
5. If you're gonna own and operate a car as rare and desired as a Type R. Do yourself a favor and invest $750 in a BEATER before running out and buying those ZEAL's or a $1000 header!

My 2000 ITR has been hit 5 times , and they still can't actually drive away with it!! If any of you fellow R owners would like to know about this security method, please email me. Regards.
You know, sometimes I think thieves come onto these boards and tell people to not post their trade secrets. Why? Because then we would know how to take countermeasures against theft. Knowledge is power. Share what you know so that we will know how to prevent theft. Or keep it to yourself and allow thieves to have their way with your car.
Here is a quote from hacking exposed, "Keeping vulnerabilities secret only works as long as they remain secret..."

Go ahead and post it again then, Myself I DONT Think its a smart Idea to post up a "How To" on how to steal cars.
Since my ITR was stolen I know how it feels, It completely sucks, My feeling was that I am protecting others by not having links in a post to tell people step by step how to steal a car.

I completely agree with this and I've done this since I bought my car in March.
A few weeks ago my friend asked me why I did this. I told him why and he pointed
out that the VIN is printed on the Inspection stickers here in MA. Oh well, I guess there isn't anything I can legally do to hide it.

I hope we can get something from these. One thing I noticed from these is they said to disable an alarm, is to look for a powerline comming off the battery and cut it. I would imagine another idea would be to pull all fuses except the necessary ones needed to start the car. Therefore alarms should probably be tapped into a preexisting powerline in the dash thats important. Something like the power line going to the ecu or something.

TypeRmsm, my '96 GSR was stolen and never recovered so I know the feeling too. But wether we like it or not. The last place these guys learn "how-to" steal our cars is the internet. This stuff spreads like wildfire through word-of-mouth among crooks in the street. When the immobilizers came out on the '00 ITR's everyone thought, "Oh we're safe now". And within 90 days of the PY/FBP R's hitting our shores. The thieves had figured out a way to bypass the immobilizer. Prior to ANYONE on the internet knowing anything about it. As a matter of fact 9 out of 10 ITR owners were totally oblivious to the fact that the immobilizer was defeatable.
Some still are to this day! Granted giving would-be crooks ideas isn't good either. But by knowing that nothing can really protect your R with the exception of keeping out of sight, and in a locked garage. Many owners can prevent the theft of their prized car.
Type R owners aren't the only people that have gotten victimized as a target group. GSR/SI owners suffer the exact same fate ITR owners do, when they leave their car in a vulnerable spot. Lets not forget that before ITR's even came to the US. GSR's were fueling the Hybrid fire since 1994 or so. Anything with a B series vtec in it, is very likely to get messed with simply becasue of the hybrid and Honda parts black market that has grown like a raging beast over the last few years.

I leave my CRX unlocked, windows down, sunroof open. I figure if it gets stolen, I get the 2 grand back I paid for it, and I drive my Jeep to work the next day
But then again, it's not an ITR

But then again, it's not an ITR
i really don't like this........ "Hell, I've always like the idea of taking something from someone else if they
don't take the proper precautions" .........that's this guys way of thinking
