How far can I lower my car with a 17 inch wheel
I was wondering if anyone out there knows how far I can lower my 95 GSR if I put a 17 inch wheel with a 205/40/17? I want to try and tuck the top of the tire. So I was gonna go all out and get "real" coilover but I didnt want to spend all that money if I was only going to be able to drop the car about and inch and a half or so...In that case I would just get springs. Can anyone out there help me? Thanks for your time
My front is a 4inch dropped. Fully dropped on coilovers. Back is a 3 inch?
)it looked fully disgusting with no dropping to it. Looks like an offroader! -=P
Not much people think this is a 4 inch drop, but it is, considering the big gap between from the wheel and fender line. O_O uGly..
I get no rubbing what so ever.

ive got 17" wheels and 205/40/17 just like you. trust me, you do NOT want to drop it 2.5"; you will rub on bumbs like a mad man. ive got a 1" drop and it looks real nice; fills up the wheel well real nice. itll tuck up into your wheel well about 1/4".
I had about a 2.5 inch drop with 17's and it would rub on bumps and a full tank of gas. It also depends on the offset of your wheels and if they will tuck in the fenders or not. I have ground controls and ended up raising it back up another .25 inch.
Odd enough... Mines don't rub at all.. (above pics)...
I would consider it is, since with my stock springs on... There was a 4 inch gap between the fender line..to the tires.
The coilover max drop is 4" inch, and its the furthest it can be dropped. Even with my drop, i feel no rubbing at all... Doing U turns..and riding the car with 4 people.. Seems fine to me.... Wells, i guess it all fepends i guess? o_O gOod luck...
Fender-Line Drop..
(let me find my old pics with my stock springs, then you will see the big gap between it)

I remember the roads being nice in Albuquerque, but don't you get tired of not having any suspension travel?
Do you ever have problems scraping? EDIT: just noticed you don't have a front lip, that figures.
What about bottoming out with people/luggage in the car?
The roads where I live are in no condition for me to drive a lowered car.
Just switching to 17's with stock spring rates/strut valving is a whole new world for me. . .

I have 35mm APEX springs in my integra, BUT they are for an ITR which is 15mm lower than a GSR stock so i guess i have a 50mm (2") drop. the front sits nicely just at the very top of the tyre and the rear has approx a 1" gap .
ok tell me if i am right or wrong please........ if you have say a 2" drope isnt that measured at the strut???............. so if the guy with the white teg droped his car 4" measured from the fender to the wheel before and after the drope. wouldnt that give him a false since or depth???
I COULD BE WRONG AND WILL ADMIT IT!!!

Hey man I have the Eibach Pro Kit springs with Tokicos and no rubbing whatsoever. I would suggest either going with the Eibach Pro Kit's -1.4", H&R sport springs-1.75"f/1.5"r or the Eibach Sportlines-1.7". I like the Pro Kits b/c it has the "lowered" looking but not the slammed look. And there is nothing wrong with 17's on a teg!
If you are worried about rubbing, you must also take into consideration the offset and width of the rim.
A 7" wide wheel at 40mm offset is much more susceptible to rubbing when lowered, compared to a 7" wide wheel at 45mm offset.
Post what type of wheels you have, what width and offset, and we can better help you figure out a drop that'll suit your car without causing problems down the line.

I'm not sure about my drop, compare to others. All i can really say, is why not get some coilover set and go from there? Play with the drop and height, and see what height is best for you and your car.
Albuquerque doesnt seem to bad... Roads are pretty fine now, since the new bill? act? came out... Which every on and off ramps, and streets...in town are being redone... EVERY...! Odd enough to the point where i drop my teg, (fully drop on the coilovers..) I tend not to never scrape or to rub on my wheels..
Unless you can be dumbass and go head on forward to a dip.
17's for Show? For some reason, i think i get wayyy more traction with my Jump. With my stock 15blades, into 3rd gear it will skurt... As long as my car can kick typeS rsx's ***...then im set to go..
14.5lb each isnt to bad for my wheels i guess?
