What's needed to rev to 8500?
Planning on slapping an itr cluster in my rex and getting it boosted in a couple months.. but if I got let's say the skunk2 springs/ret/valves would I be able to redline at 8400 on like oh.. ~16 psi?

skip shifted a stock b16 with a bad tranny to 9,800 w/o problems. Wouldn't recommend doing that, but revs will not be your prob. Just make sure everything is to spec. and you have a good timing belt. Before deciding on turbo, I was building a poormans itr for a 12k redline. Just build up the bottom end and replace your springs.

ITR valve springs and retainers and you should be fine for 8500rpm. A stock ITR redlines at 8400rpm!

If he's still making power up ther why wouldnt he rev that high??? By the way check out ef-1 springs and retainers.........very cheap and the highest quality you will find

Don't get type-r retainers, they are the same as B16 retainers. R springs and some Ti retainers and u can do 8.5k rpm passes no problem. I have Portflow inner and ITR outer springs with S2 retainers and I have run at the track shifting at 8.5k rpm and all is fine, my compression actually went up since I put it all together.

Portflow is cool and all but you can get EF-1 springs and retainers for the same price that you could get portflow springs.........They are proven just go with them and you will have no worries down the line to even higher RPMS. Contact Rocket about them (EF-1 I mean)

Your valves can take 8.5k rpm no problem. Valves are not a drop in kind of installation, if u drop brand new valves in a used head they will not seal as well as the original valves and u will lose static compression and lose power. Also just dropping new valves inside used valve guide’s is not a good idea either, there is a certain amount of clearance there should be between the guide and the valve. Too much or not enough clearance may bring very nasty consequences.
