My oil light is still on. I just replaced my gsr oil pump with a type-r one. I cleaned my oil pickup and my oil pan is free of dents. There is no v-tec so its obvious its the oil pressure. Im not losing oil either, the oil level is fine. If my vtec isnt hitting wouldnt I throw a cel code 22? Im just wandering what else in the engine has to do with oil pressure? Any help is appreciated.

 

what about a bad sensor, or a short in the wiring to the light?? Are you sure it was bad in the first place, and that you just replaced somethign that was still good.

 

did you use RTV sealant to seal the pump to the block? did you install the o-ring on the pump and the gasket to the pickup?

 

are you sure you have psi?
With the valve cover off turn over the engine until you get oil squirting out onto the camshaft lobes... if you don't get any after a few seconds, you actually do have a problem with oil psi and not just a faulty sensor or wiring problem. Does the engine sound normal when its running?
The bearings could be shot, or spun which would greatly affect oil psi!

Yes, and are you talking about the gasket that goes in-between the pump and the pick up? if so, yes i did

Well the block is freshly built and new bearings were put in

 

did you prime the oil pump?

 

so it has never been started then?
If this is the case, disable the ignition and/or the fuel and turn the engine over with the starter until the oil psi light goes off... this might take a little while, but it will eventually go off... when it does you can go ahead and start it.

The oil pump needs to be preloaded with some kind of lubricant or something petroleum based like vasoline in order to build pressure on startup.

ARe you saying I need to take off the oil pump and put some vasoline on it? ANy pics of this procedure?

 

You don't need to take it off. There is actually a fill bolt on pump that faces the firewall. It is a big hex head bolt. You can take that off (gonna need a ratchet and adapter most likely) and fill that with oil
