Default The teg rattle we all know and love

You know that rattle that earlier g3 integras get around 2.5-3.5k rpms?

Can someone explain to me exactly what that is? It started about 4 months ago at ~3000rpms, but got some headers and fixed it like a charm. So I figured it was that a-pipe rattle, and the new headers got rid of it. Well, about a month ago it started up again at ~3000rpms and now its even doing it at 1000. So it rattles on and off at idle, stops, then again at ~3000. Would these be cracks in my flange, and/or cat? I assume (and hope) its not the headers (ceramic dc 421)

Is it air escaping through a crack(s) making the metal rattle? Why would it be rattling at 2 separate points now? another crack formed? If anyone has delt with this issue and physically seen the problem, I just want a good picture of whats going on. I dont have the money to fix it now and want to know if its really hurting my car, or if its just an annoyance issue I'll have to deal with till I can get it looked at.

thanks.

Did you take your cat heat shield off? Thats what my moneys on.

Also, make sure the header is bolted to the support bracket.

If you can, get the car on high jacks or a car lift. I wouldn't have known it was my cat shield without lifting it. I thought it was the internals of my cat. The shield had a fine line crack in it.
