Default Lsvtec question?

I'm about to start working on it soon do I need to do any upgrades or can I use a complete stock head with out any upgrades for lsvtec, kinda short on funds so is it okay if I keep the head stock for now?

Also how long will the motor last if I keep everything up todate oil changes and stuff like that and hardly ragging on it how long would it last?

A stock b16 head on a stock ls bottom end will gain about 30 WHP...
does that answer your question?
The head isn't the part to worry about with LsVtec, chances are it wont fail on you. I'd worry more about the bottom end if cost is an issue. How much did you spend / what did you do to the bottom end?

30whp by adding a b16 head to an ls block??

if that were the case there'd be a lot more ls/vtec's out there

What are you doing to the bottom end? I would at least do high comp. pistons (OEM Hondas of choice), fresh bearings, seals, and gaskets.

My personal experience:
Vehicle - 1994 Integra RS

Before
B18B 100% stock w/ DC 4-2-1 header, 5zigen exhaust, factory cat , AEM CAI, Unorthodox race pulley, and no A/C or PS
Result 123whp 15.1@unknown mph

After
B18B block w/ eagle rods, srp pistons (81mm 11.5 comp), z10 girdle, block gaurd
1st gen OBD0 B16A 5 speed complete top end left 100% stock T-Body to exhaust ports
Fidanza flywheel, p28 ECU Reprogramed by Ericks Racing, adj. fuel pres regulator
Other mods left as before DC 4-2-1 header, 5zigen exhaust, factory cat , AEM CAI, Unorthodox race pulley, and no A/C or PS
Result 181whp same dyno 13.9@99mph

This is a friends car. We did not have to build the bottom end that way to acheive the mentioned HP #'s. We did it so that large cams may be used, larger diameter and deeper valve releifs in the new pistons (cams are in the works) and he was considering a small shot of nitrous.

BTW the mentioned 13.9@99mph time was also done using a B16A tranny w/ LSD, on street tires. Don't expect that time with the LS tranny in a full interior Integra.

not that those numbers aren't impressive but hondata plays a major role in that ls/vtec setup

Hell yeah, dont expect to break in to 14s with ls tranny. in a full interior integra.

I can vouch for this one...if you can spend the money on some forged pistons and make sure your head is in complete runnning order (have it cleaned, checked and reseated) before use...
