I need help with some track/autoX research please…
Hi guys,
I'm doing some research on how many Honda owners do autoX and track events (road courses), and I was hoping you could help me out. I'm trying to get a gauge on the following:
What is the year and model of your car?
How many days per year do you AutoX?
How many days per year do you drive on a road course (again, this is days...some clubs run multi-day events, so list roughly how many actual days you are on the track per year)?
Who organizes the events that you attend (SCCA, NASA, PCA, etc.)?
What is the biggest problem you typically encounter at the track? (engine overheats, brakes don't hold up, seat moves around, etc.)
Thanks guys. I think some interesting findings could come out of this...I really appreciate the help. :D

2000 Acura Integra Type R.
1 or 2 autox (just used for new parts testing)
6+ depending on budget/schedule.
NASA.
Boil the crap out of my brake fluid. Every time. It's like clockwork.

89 and 00 civic si's
about 30 days a year of auto-x probably. Just a guess. I've done I think 20 events this year already but I've kinda lost count.
2-3 days on road courses this year
only been to SCCA, Mazda Rev It Up and private track days this year.
no unusual problems. Alignment off, fuel starvation, ride height experimentation problems.

Auto X - 6-12 times per year just at a local one that's held every month or every other month just for fun.
HPDE's - Only been to two so far this year.
Car parts own me. It will be up to H3 status one day I promise.
NASA, Getting into Car Guys.
Brakes fade and vibration without fail (Need to re-upgrade). Front alignment always killed from my not-so-solid steering rack mount. Stock seat (sucks *** and I'm no small guy). Must...reduce...lap...times. Which require more money for more parts which means less money for track time. Will it ever end?

1994 acura integra RS
by the time the year is over, prolly ~25 events.
SCCA and BTCC (boone trail corvette club)
never had any mechanical problems aside from wear items like clutch mast/slave cylinders and brake MC crappin' out on me.

This year, I've been to 15 auto-x events (National and local), 2 more to go, have been an instructor at 1 auto-x school, and will be an instructor again next week. So a total of 19 auto-x events this year.

Oil starve, early fuel cut at 6500 rpm typicially at quick transitions such as slaloms.

94 GSR, about 20 autox, mostly SCCA
8-10 track days, mostly with BMW club
Brakes wear quickly on track and pads that don't fade or boil brake fluid are expensive and rotors are often warped badly after 2 track days

[EDIT] I don't know if an auto-x course is counted as a track, but my biggest problem is my lack of skill. Other than that, I just leave more rubber there than what I came with.

In the spirit of full disclosure, who are you and why do you want to know? Just curious, really....

6 to 12+ autox per year (more last year than this year, I've been slacking)
0 to 2 road course
ITR** an ITR club that I ran the Talladega GP, 2 day
I don't experience any mechanical problems (brakes were smokin' at Talladega after 45 minutes, and they still gripped as good as lap 1). I'm still tuning the car, so my alignment is the only problem: setting neg camber at the track and successfully reversing it will be my goal next year.

How many days per year do you AutoX?
- 20 plus
How many days per year do you drive on a road course

What is the biggest problem you typically encounter at the track? (engine overheats, brakes don't hold up, seat moves around, etc.)
- w/ 0ver 160K on the stock engine, it consumes a bit of oil... went to 20-50 this year and it seemed to reduce the consumption
- brakes overheat since the pad-disk ratio is a bit unfavorable to the disk... hoping to have ducting in place for the next track day.
... also learned the proper technique to bleeding (thanks HT members), so I do this when necessary at the track.
Hope this helps.

I go to all the local events and a very few outside the region. Something like 15 events all year.
0 on track
SCCA
No mechanical troubles. The car is solid as a rock. No other troubles either really
