Break-in procedures for new rings and bearings/new engines
Well I finally got my car back. It took forever to get all the bearings, but now that it's together, I can start the long and arduous (and BORING) break-in of the "new" motor. The car has a new balanced crank (entire rotating assembly was balanced with the Spoon flywheel), 81.5mm Endyn Rollerwaves, Eagle forged rods along with the Toda Spec B's and a lightly massaged head.
Comments so far are that the engine runs really really smoothly. Low end torque is a little better. We weighed the stock rods/pistons and compared them to the new rods/pistons and found a ~100g difference per piston/rod - which is a lot lighter than we expected. I also installed polyurethane engine mounts and really like the subtle change it made in transmitting the engines vibrations a little more through the chassis. But as I am limited to 3000 rpm for the first 1500 km, that's pretty much all I can comment on now.
I was just wondering on any comments anyone may have regarding break-in. After the first 1500 km (~1K mi) should I incrementally increase revs as mileage increases? - or once the break-in procedures are done - can I go to town and rev to redline? The reason I am asking is that it seems everyone has their own opinions regarding break-in and I want to revisit this topic......

I'd change the oil @ 1000km's and take it easy for a while. Factory motors go through "pre-break-in" which your motor has not gone through. Play it safe , and keep the revs low for a while.
Big Phat R..
You should do the brake in as Per what Larry states on his sight keep it under 3500rpm and up that rpm 500rpm for every 200 miles...
That's what I did with my set up ...it was like a torture waiting for that thing to break~in but it was worth the wait !! Just wait untill you open that engine up for the 1st time after the rings break~in...It'll knock your socks off
