cr on an ls/vtec?
I am building a ls/vtec and am wondering what would be a safe cr for the street. What pistons would be the best choice, i cant decide cause there is so many choices.
I'd say go with either a P73-A00 piston (usdm ITR) (10.85:1 compression w/ B16 head and OB piston) or a PR3 piston (first gen b16)(11.33:1 w/b16 head and SB piston) or if you are going with Hondata or a standalone to go with PCT (JDM CTR pistons) (12.03:1 w/ b16 head and OB piston).
Both the CTR and ITR piston sets would cost around $175 new, where as the PR3 would cast about $50 but would be used. PR3 is a good option if cost is an issue. ITR is a good option if compression is an issue, CTR is a good option period!

i just recently dropped my block off to the machine shop to get honed (or bored depending on measurements) and they said not to go over 10:1 on pump gas. Now i know that is a little low but ctr pistons seem a little high (12.4:1) I want to know what a reasonable amount was. I looked at SRP pistons that would put it at 10.6:1. Is higher ok? remember i want this as streetable as possible
thanks
thanks
i'm building my ls vtec with a b16 head and i want as much compression as i can with pump gas (91 octane)
ctr's would be to high (12.1) so i'm going with p30(11.5) which i think yeilds the best cr on a daily driven car on 91 octane
i would say either go with pr3(11.3cr) or p30(11.5) this is assuming your going with a b16 head
