Does changing your Final Drive change the odometer reading?

Can you explain how it doesn't? (said in a nice voice please don't be defensive) Im trying to figure out in my head, how the speed sensor would be affected by the FD

I am guessing the drive gear on the diff. for the speedo. is the same as the one you are replacing.
The wheels are still spinning at the same rate just different gear ratios, and final drive ratio, which affects rpm for given speed.

The idea behind the speed sensor..is..well it senses speed of course. So if your FD changes, the speed sensor accounts for it.
