Finally Test drove the RSX-S
Well, I went to Houston with Fuminsho (my brother) this past weekend and met people from the Texas Type R circle at one of the Acura dealerships in Houston for a picnic and got a chance to test drive an RSX-S while we were waiting for everyone to show up. All I have to say is
. I don't understand what all the hype about this peace of crap upgrade (so called) to the "outdated" integra line. The acceleration in the car suck!! compaired to the R. The body had way too much role when making sharp turns. Man I just didn't like it at all. The interior was the same. I loved the pictures when I first saw them but when your sitting in the car, while some things looked nice like the console, everything else looked very cheep. THANK GOD that I didn't hold out on buy an R to buy one of these things. I would have been hard pressed not to take a hammer to my head and not bash my skull in. Yes the car had some nice things about it, like the floor matts that said RSX-S in pretty metalic and Red letters but other than that, like I told my sister in law who went along with me on the test drive, I would have had more fun taking a dump on the toilet than waste my time driving this. At least I would have been doing something constructive. All in All
My 2 cents.
Not trying to Flame on anyone else but I just don't like this car at all and all of us can only hope and pray that they bring the R version to the states to make up for the RSX-S

Man, could 2 type R owners have 2 more conflicting ideas about the RSX type S? I personally liked the car a lot. The car seemed well put together and the interior in my opinion was better than my car as far as luxury and the quality of the materials used. I didnt like the guages while driving and I wanted an armrest but both didnt bother me too much. I really liked the steering wheel and the seats were very nice although not as supportive as my type R. The car seemed almost as luxurious as the older acuras.
The engine had good torque and the gearshift was extremely easy to operate. It wasnt as willing to rev and VTEC didnt have an on-off effect on power, instead it felt like a torque boost came on and it simply pushed you more than it had been before in the lower rev-ranges.
The exterior I really didnt like but there's nothing a JDM body kit and spolier, wheels, and springs couldnt fix
Basically, it whoops a GS-R and comes close to a type R but does not beat it by any means. The type R in performance esp. handling will beat the type S easily but in a straight line, it is closer. But I feel like it isnt the car's job to try to beat the type R, acura wants it to be compared to the GS-R which it kills.

R-Adrenaline... You make me laugh... And other people too! You guys drive a car for 5 minutes and there you go, you have made your opinion... loll
I've been the proud owner of 2 ITRs and now I owned a RSX-S! And don't tell me I've never used my ITR and its full potential! I've raced my both R (friendly racing) an let me tell you this car is something! But there's no way I would go back to the ITR! This gen of Integra is way to old... But again, I've putted a deposit on a possible RSX Type-R coming to North America... All the R goodies, in a new body... hummm!
So, I'm getting more in my RSX-S... But the definition of more is very personal! So don't come here and spit on the RSX like you're the only one who knows his sh*t!

Well everyone is entiled to their own opinion and what manufacturers of Automobiles try to do when selling a car is make a good first impression. Well mine wasn't that good and that is why I feel the way that I do. I am not trying to knock the car because like alot of people, I wanted to get on too. I loved the pictures and liked the way the interior was layed out (in the pictures) but when I got in one.
Enjoy your car
my 2 cents (notice I didn't say that this is the opinion of all R owners....just mine

I drove my friends last week. And I'm not impressed at all. Not to mention my R was walking all over his car too, when we were driving on the highway. No contest, the R is faster.
On a track, the R is faster, period. In day to day traffic, the RSX-S is nicer, period.
The R is lighter and has more acceleration everywhere and I couldn't really notice the so called "extra torque" that the RSX-S has. It's a nice car and a cheaper alternative to a 3 series BMW or a sporty Accord alternative, but it isn't a factory racecar.
I'd love to have one for a daily driver, but I wouldn't take it to the track.

I just test drove the RSX-S myself yesterday and here's what I think:
I like the steering wheel, seats, gearbox/shifting, interior quality, heat controls, panel and roof material.
There is no question that these items are superior to our cars' with much better quality.
I was disapointed with the handling, radio design, dash shape, and most importantly the lack of vtec. I couldn't tell when vtec came on at all. I'm sure it will be louder with a cone filter but nowhere near as loud as my car. The car has more body roll than my car. I like the minor improvement in torque but I still think it won't be as fast as an ITR.
All in all it's a fabulous car but performance-wise I don't believe it will measure up to the Type R. I would highly recommnd it to anyone who wanted a GSR or Celica (like my g/f) or to anyone who likes the import scene. I don't recommend it to ITR owners.
R-Adrenaline: could it be that you were in denial before you stepped into the car? I mean I had a blast driving it. I much prefer my car like you do as well, but I wouldn't rather be taking a **** lol.

The car is meant to be a GS-R replacement!!!!!!!!!
I drove it and it felt as fast as my R with three people in it.(comparing with my R with three people in it.) I drove it @ John Eagle Acura in H-Town and they let us take it out without even coming with us. So I have a fairly good impression of the car since I tore it up fore 30 minutes. Nice car, better car in every way compraed to the G3 teg. Not as nice as the R though.

put mine against a demo with 2800miles on it... if your in a stock RSX-S... don't be stupid and try and race me is all I have to say... straight or curvey... If we're goning on a trip though, we're taking the RSX...
Man...how many times do you guys have to be told that the RSX Type S is a GSR replacement! Test drive a GSR first then the RSX-S and then you'll know which one is better. RSX Type R will be the ITR replacement. If they won't have it here in North America, then there won't be a ITR replacement in North America. In Japan, it has already been replaced.

I test drove an RSX-S recently as well. (I work a block from an Acura dealership... makes me want to go test drive one right now...
) I enjoyed the car, but, I wasn't all that impressed. Maybe it was the hype around it that the car had from me reading the message boards here... I'm not exactly sure. The interior just seemed really cheap to me.
Not really cheap, but like they tried to make it nice on a low budget. Like a Hyundai Sonata with Leather interior. And the irreplaceable stock stereo that is built in to the dash... wtf is that?!
Maybe I'm just loyal to the R... I don't know. The car was too stout. *shrug* I don't know.

Of course the Type S is a GSR replacement but we're comparing it to our ITRs because some magazines tested it at 14.7 stock quarter mile. Our cars were tested at 15.1 when they first came out. Later on they got some better drivers and we saw 14.7-8 stock but still. This made me wonder if my car was faster and it is.
its also compared to the ITR because the power output is rated at 200hp and more tourque than the ITR...
I test drove one last week and and I'd like to know where all that HP and torque is hiding...it sure wasn't unfer the hood or at the wheels. it was increadably slow...I thought. I was pretty dissapointed all around.

Actually it wont beat a GSR. Me and a friend raced and he did not beat me at all. The first day he had it we raced and he beat me 2 times. After that he never has beat me since. We just stay side by side.

Nope we have raced many times highway or the street it is still even. Maybe its the weight difference. His car was dynoed at 174 with intake. The car has 2000 miles on it. I really dont know why I can pull on him. I only pull about a bumper if I am lucky. As for his driving he can drive pretty good. His last GSR on 17's and intake pulled a 15 flat. As for my GSR intake only. I dunno man but I am not B.Sing anyone. Alright put it this way I can pull on stock Preludes. So maybe it is the driver.

In my opinion,..its 70 percent driver, and the rest is the car. And many can attest to the skills of the driver as being a very important factor.
