Default how did you tie up the engine for your engine pull? *pics*

hey guys, i'm all ready for the pull, what did you do, did you just wrap a bunch of chains around it, or did you attach chains to the engine with bolts? what balances it the best for easy pull?

any advice appreciated...thanks!

doesnt look like u have a chain, goto autozone and borrow one (it costs a couple bucks, but they give u back ur money when u return it). Then attatch one side of the chain onto a bolt somewhere around the tranny/dizzy that looks sturdy and safe (i cant remember exactly which bolt it is thats recommended in the Helms) then attatch the other side of the chain to another bolt over by the cam/intake mani. again find a bolt that looks safe and pretty strong. You'll need to have the chain angled so you can lift the motor out angled with the motor higher than the tranny. Its alot easier to explain with pics but Im at school.. hope that helps.

This is how i did it,
because of the ac lines you need to hoist it first, then lower the engine and push the tranny side down to clear the lines and then pull up.

check my sig for a good swap guide and manuals

Thats the way I did it too. Also add just a bit of "english" and some swearing and you should be good.

I've found that a tow strap works great for pulling honda engines. it is soft enough not to scratch and break small parts, but strong enough to hold a b18a1. It will make short work of that puny d series

Putting it in from the bottom is easy, you can jack the car high enough to clear w/ just a jack, then lower the car and use the hoist to lift the engine into place.

I did it w/ just jacks (one little hydro, one big hydro) some wood, and a couple jackstands in 2hrs er so.

i pounded on that pin forever with a punch and it would not move at all, i got a 98 d16y7 for free, so i'm putting that in there to have a nice new motor, since the d15 is not in the best condition, no $$ for another b16, and the one in my 00 Si is stayin there

well since u got to take the tranny off anyway i guess its not that big of a deal.

you could always drop the linkage from the shifter end, and try to pull the motor out with the linkage attached. then when you get the motor out a bit you can try to knock the pin out from above.
