Yes- get an ecu from a 90-91 civic ex auto. Changing to mpfi makes a drastic change in the dx motor- you will like it. You could put a zc in if you want.

having a dx myself, i did some research into that one - the best thing to do is get the mpfi assembly and the wiring that goes with it, which means the new ecu too. also put the head from the si onto your dx. leave the same block, same tranny, and switch the crank too. if you do all that, your car will be faster than an si. and if you really want to improve the braking, get a set of rear lower trailing arms from a 90 or 91 si, with the disc brake setup - then you can put the rear calipers and rotors from an integra or crx on the back of it.

how does that make it faster than an si?
its just pretty much a si motor only with dx pistons and rods and wide *** gear ratios

you don't need the si head- just the cam. The head is the same on the dx as it is on the si. Si block is different- the crank has larger journals and a longer stroke. Dx compression ratio is .1 higher.

i have no idea how it makes it faster. i just know that is what the guy told me who did it to his sons car. i also know that you will get a higher top end out of it because of the longer gear ratio for the dx tranny.

d16a6 compression is 9.1:1[vs 9.2:1 d15b1] .
i checked and the pistons are the same..
my guess for the compression difference is they increased the size of the combustion chambers rather than install lower comp pistons.
the reason for the lower compression is so it can run on 87 octane.

the main bearing journal diameter for the d15b1 is 1.7707-1.7718.
d16a6 is 2.1644-2.1654

the si can allready hit 130[rev limiter 5th gear]if the gears were any wider the top speed would be less because with 108hp any wider of a 5th gear and it wouldnt even be able to get to 130 in the first place.
