Default Easy Out(s)?

Hey,

I have read on a few posts about frozen bolts in the rear lca being removed with easy out(s). What are they? I have the same problem, but the bolt head has not been broken, just slightly rounded/stripped.

Thanks

easy outs are a reversed drill tip tool set that you drill down into bolt head and then you use the easy out tip which grips the inside of the bolt and loosens it. you can get the set at sears

Be CAREFUL when using these extractors. I had one break off in an oil pan bolt on my Subaru, and it took ALOT of work to simply drill out the hardened tool steel that those extractors are made out of. Drill as big of a pilot hole as you can, and use the biggest, toughest extractor that will fit....and most of all....Good luck !!

When you use one make sure that the size is not too big i.e cutting into anything surrounding, also try to use someting like a wrench not a huge ratchet to spin out the bolt. This will give you a harder time in effort but allow you to feel if the easy out is going to shear. Start with a centre drill or use the same size drill as the outer hole to give you the best centre point. Good luck.
