Default ?about ls/vtec and 8000 rpm?

Is it safe to take it there with this setup, B18b block with just srp pistons and eagle rods all barings replaced stock ls girdle nothing done to the crank and arp headstuds
head is a b16 with ITR internals and intake cam. I would like to get more than one comment from old post, +I have different set up then planned.

oh yeah will it even make power up there.

thanks alot Justin

let me make it more simple!

parshly built B18 block with B16 head Itr internals in the head, and stock girdle in the block. Is 8000rpm safe?

find a gsr girdle if possible any extra stregnth will help.. i have had three lsvtec motors, and so far none of them have had a problem revving to nine on a regular basis...just other shitty machine shop problems.....they can make very potent power though, i made very good power of of gsr cams....

so did my friend.

He took it to 9000rpm in 5th gear racing a 60's SB chevelle. 140 mph or so.

When he slowed back down, something wasnt right. Engine sounded louder. He ended up spinning all four rod bearings.

I think that the lack of sufficient oiling and intense thermal loads caused this to happen. The ls rods and crank are not as strong as vtec parts.

So, to all with LS bottom ends (crank and rods) be careful. I dont recommend over 8400rpm and that should be w/ an oil cooler and b20/ITR oil pump.

To go any higher, polished oil galleys, micropolished crank, and high end oil is definitly a damn good insurance.

The LS block just isnt designed for reliability over 8k. You have to bring it to the level of vtec blocks to get the reliability of them.

well it has a vtec oil pump, and it has eagle rods, I still do not plan on going any higher then 8000 rpm and all of the barings where replaced with new ones when I built it.

so let me get this straight? without a girdle will still be fine going to about 8 grand seeingthat some of you take yours pretty high. correct me if i am wrong, i did not go to sleep last night going on 32 hours of no sleep. Donot become a painting fine arts major in college unless you plan on having sleep deprevation.

thanks everyone

8000 should be fine IMO... Anything more might be pushing it!

i have friends with ls/vtecs that only have vtec oil and water pumps, and arp rod bolts, and they rev to 10,000 all the time...it's all about who builds yur motor I guess...9000 in 5th and burning all 4 bearings, a mistake was made. trust me.
