starter whining when key is inserted into 2nd position

starter whining when key is inserted into 2nd position
Today I was checking the oil level on my 94 Integra LS...
After closing the hood.. I stuck the key into the ignition.. i turned the car to 2 clicks.. I did not start the car.. as soon as the car went into the second click.. I began hearing this loud whining sound.. I started the car.. and the whining sound still continued.. it sounded as if it was coming from the starter ...
I turned the car off..and after the 4th time restarting the car. .the sound went away..
is this something I should worry about? does anyone know what this is? have you experienced this?
