Default unusual motor problems...

ok, this morning on my way to skool., i tried starting my car, didn't work. i thought my started cable came loose (this sometimes happens, its not properly secured to the started) but i popped my clutch and drove to skool fine. after getting out, i tried starting my car, nothing. then i tried again, it started and died. i tried again, same result. after doing this a few times i started to get frustrated. then i tried starting the car, and holding the key in the "start" position, this allowed the car to continue running w/out stalling. so i had to drive 10 miles home holding the key in the start position. anyone know what could cause something like this? as of right now...i can't drive anywhere like this

Sounds like a fuel pump wiring problem.

The start position turns the fuel pump relay on as long as it's on the start position.

Check for fuel pressure. Start the car, and have someone watch the fuel pressure gauge.

here's the thing though...the starter wouldn't make the grinding noise @ all when i held it. but when i depressed the clutch, then it would make the "you're an idiot cuz you're trying to start your car when its already on" noise

Yes, because the clutch switch doesn't let the starter come on unless you push the pedal down.

Nothing strange about that.

its only 50 bucks or you can resolder it for free. turn the key over to accessory and listen for the fuel pump click and the check engine light will go off. if it doesn't do both of these then it is the main relay. heres how to do it:

You sound like a dick... Answer the question, or don't post. No need to tell people to search.

please tell me you didnt drive 10 minutes with the starter on. if just holding the key in the start position will let your car run like its in the run position then it could be and ignition switch problem.

whats what i'm thinking it is, because when i turn it to the on position, you can hear the fuel pump prime and pressurize the system, but i really think its the ignition system, cuz i can't even pop the clutch and start it. what exactly it could be i dont know.

ok...i disconnected the fuel return line to see if there was still fuel coming back when the system was primed, and when the motor was running. and sure enough, there's still fuel coming back. so maybe something w/ the ignition system? wiring?

well...anyways i my friend hieu came over w/ his single cam crx (with the fugged up door )and i tried using his main relay...that didn't work. then i tried hooking up his ecu to my harness...that didn't work either. so ecu and main relay are ruled out
