Default spoon magnetic oil plug supposed to look like this?

first time I'VE changed the oil in the kar... so i'm guessing that someone before me dropped it or something and chipped some of it off.

that would be my guess too. longer goes in pan, shorter goes in tranny. i'd suggest talking to the owner and wtf happened cuz there could be a magnet floating around your tranny.

The end is a magnet - magnets are made of a brittle material - so that one was either dropped or as someone else wisely suggested - incorrectly installed in the tranny.

So you put the engine plug into the tranny? I hope you didn't break your FD by doing it.

Did you have to bend that plate at all to get the plug to go in? I have hte same set up and had to tweak it a little bit to get the plug to go in. Otherwise there would have been a collision/interference between the plug and baffle.
