The shorter gears would be nice, but if you are boosting wouldn't an h23 tranny be better? Also, can you even fit a base/4th gen tranny on an SH block? I thought you couldn't bc the blocks were different. Can someone confirm this?

comparing the F22 transmission vs. the SH's transmission. looks like any of them would fit, just have to take care of the ATTS and maybe fab something for the half shaft?

a lot of people seem to think this, but the truth is as long as you can get traction, the shorter the gear, the quicker the accel....the only prob is when you run out of gear, so you get bigger slicks

i swapped because i had an SH i got for a good deal.
i wanted high hp turbo and you cant do that on an sh.
you cant put a quaife in an sh tranny.
i sold my stock motor (only had 7500miles on it and was perfect)
i'm having ginding noises at low rpm on the tranny i swapped in (so much for swap purchases). I'm sorry i didnt just buy a brand new honda base tranny and a salvaged block somewhere. would have worked out cheaper in the end.

Actually the Quaife weights alot more the the stock open diff set up but for the benefit's it doesn't matter

why can't u have a HIGH HP turboed SH, there is no diff in motor same **** same block. big deal it has ATTS u might have 80 lbs of extra weight on the car but dont mean its no use in turboeing a lude SH for 350+whp.
its not the motor its the ATTS unit that will fail
and once that fails i bet its not easy to put power to teh ground since the unit will be too busy cooking itself up inside to be able to tranfer power to the ground from the tranny.

The SH has a different block, it's a fact. That's why the SH and Base trannies are not easily swappable. Internally they are the same, but the block design on the outside is differnt. Intermediate shaft and tranny mounting, oil filter and a bunch of either stuff.
There is a thread on PO.com that details how to do a SH tranny swap to a base, it's not easy and involves fabrication.
Unless someone else has more to offer I see the options as:
a) turbo the SH and live with it. but this can cause problems
b) peform tranny swap, pain in the *** but can be done
c) sell car, buy base
d) sell longblock, use SH tranny as art piece in living room, get base longblock and tranny
As people have stated A and C are the easiest and long run cheapest options.
