Honda-Tech Board Pet Peeve!! Beware.
Here's my pet peeve. People that tell you to do a search when you know
damn well that you already did!
As an avid user of Honda-Tech... Most of the time I just lurk and read
and I've had a few different screen-names over the years because i've owned
a couple of different integras, I have come to the realization that I have a pet peeve about this board.
Don't get me wrong. 95% of everyone on here is super helpful and cool and
if I didn't love honda-tech I wouldn't have joined. I love you honda-tech.
Having said this.........
People that tell other people to search without first performing the search themselves to see if the topic if 1. covered. 2. found using search.
Just plain out **** me off.
I USE the search feature EVERY SINGLE time I go to post anything.
I only post if I have a specific question on a topic that may be already covered.
Like for instance if I didn't quite grasp something or needed clarity on what someone typed, etc. etc.
I too am tired of messages like "What is the best kind of turbo kit?"
"Turbo or nawzzz" and shiz like that.
We should all pitch in and donate a few bucks to pay some programmers at Elance.com to re-write our search script for x sake.
There thats my rant for the day.

The search does suck considering it only searches the post topic titles for key words.
A lot of good info and answers get passed on mid-post and are left unreturned in the searches b/c the post titles are either completely vague, unrelated, or senseless to the problem or subject of discussion.
It ends up being that any given topic has to talked about 10 times just for it to be a common return and offer enough useful information to the inquirer.
I know thine frustration.
And, in the tradition of locking off-topic rants and posts, I think this one's going down the flusher eventually as well.

Our search sucks ***... We really need the ability to search message bodies, not just topics. I would pay for a premium HT search, hint hint
A buck a month could cover the increased hardware demands and would make me a happy camper.

That is why I said premium service, meaning only the members that want it would pay for it...

I think a bigger problem is people dont know HOW to use the search feature.
Its an awesome search, you just need to know how to use it. There is a difference between recent/archived. Archived is old. So if you search under recent, also search the archives.
Not only that, but broaden your search terms. Instead of "Comptech TIG header dyno plot for GSR" search for "comptech header dyno" or something.
Just a couple basic tips...I dont ever have a problem with the search feature.
I do wish people would stop saying "do a search" so often (which they have cut down recently). I can understand on the turbo vs sc threads or "what intake" or something...but everyoine needs to understand that with new times comes new developments. With new members comes new information. Nothing is ever set in stone, and new points can come up in old discussions. If you dont like the thread, dont reply or report it to a mod. No need to jump on other members backs.
