Default MUGEN COILOVERS

I searched but couldnt find anything recent. I am interested in Mugen coilovers for the ep3. The drop is nice not too low almost stock hieght but if i want to have a front lip survive then i guess thast the way im gonna go. Is the ride harsh or too noisy? I Remember george had it on his ep3. Anyone else?

I have them installed and really like them a lot. There isn't any noise as Mugen had done their homework. Ride height is great and so is the feel.

Im hoping soon that Mugen releases the real "coilovers" for the EP3. The current ones are a non-adjustable suspension replacement.

They're also insanely heavy compared to the stock units and all of the aftermarket ones. The price is right though. Go figure. Mugen makes the bargain basement of something.

I havent weighed them, but I doubt they are any heavier than stock. They are essentially revalved OEM dampers. Showa makes both OEM Honda and the Mugen parts. Take it from me, I lugged those SOBs throught the Tokyo Subway to Narita.

The Mugens are great if you're going to race. They are tuned exactly for the EP3 out of the box. So if you don't have the time to tune a system that wasn't designed for your car in the first place, the Mugen's won't let you down.
They shine on the autocross course, dialing out much of that pesky understeer.

Ride quality is a bit on the harsh side, but livable my most standards. Well worth the feel of taking hard corners with confidence...

They are approx. 10lbs heavier than stock. They've been weighed a few times by different users. That SUCKS.

By comparison, the KW fully adjustable coilovers are approx. 30lbs less than stock. That puts the Mugens at 40lbs more than the KWs.

Regrettably, I didn't get a chance to weigh them... I assumed since they were revalved that they were the same weight...however the extra weight is probably in thicker springs.

I would certainly agree with George, the Mugens are the ideal comprimise...perhaps not as light as the KW's- but you have to ask yourself this question: Did KW have a team of Japanese suspension designers, half of which came from Honda itself, laboring over this suspension for over a year testing it day in and day out in race conditions? I doubt it.
I don't need adjustability, I just need it to be right.

Perhaps if I were a nationally competitive autocrosser, this wouldn't be the right choice for me. Or if I was a show-racer looking to be "slammed," this isn't for you either. This is for that person who wants to drive the **** out of their car to work and at the track, and not be concerned about tuning the suspension- because it's already done.
