b20vtec: what would you do?
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too ****** broad of a question. here's a good page on it:

complete toda top end, with C's, LDL race engines ported head and manifold, itr intake manifold, titanium retainers, 70 mm throttle body, eagle rods, je pistons (13.0:1 CR), knife edged crank, oh yeah, i would run a ls block sleeved and bored to 85 mm.
instead of using high copm pistons, i would mill the block because i want good air and fuel to flow good in my combustion chamber, high comp pistons will distrupt that. stage 3 skunk 2 cams, ITBs, ferrea valve train or whatevers, your choice of pistons and rods, i wouldnt knifedge a b20 crank, i heard they arent that balanced to begin with and injectors to match. of course head fully port polished. a b16 with these similar mods made 200whp but that was on race gas because they advanced the cam but even retarding it enough to run pump gas should still yeild you like 190 whp, but then since yoru using a b20 block, u can expect more power out of it
personally not a fan a fan of the b20 since i heard teh sleeves are weak and its cheaper to go ls block then sleeve it as opposed to b20 sleeved. to get the most horse power all motor, you got to have a high compression ratio. whether you achiev it through milling or piston. but i believe you can get so many tenths of a point by miliing. but sure there is a happy median between milling a little and using high compression pistons.

B20 block - $550
Sleeving - $1100
TOTAL - $1650 APPROXIMATE OF COURSE

a stock bore for a b20 is 84mm. you can bore it to about 84.5 mm wothout sleeving but any bigger and reliability will go down. 84.5 mm and you are still streetable. a ls block has a 81 mm stock bore. you can go 82 mm on it but need a custom head gasket and a block guard. most people go 81.5 mm un less they sleeve the block when you can go 85 mm or 86 mm bore.

i was thinking about arias pistons (12.5:1) and skunk 2 valve train with a lsd type r tranny but im not sure about rods and small misc stuff...can any one help me...........i have about 9 grand to play around with...i still need a shell, thinking bout a rex but also thinkin about an eg not sure though....this car will be a daily driven road/quarter mile car.....some one give me some recomendations plz
i say, if you can get a eg, then get one. wish i had one. then a 98 spec type r tranny with work with no conversion kits. ys1 lsd tranny are getting harder and harder to find for a crx. as for as valve terrain, i like my todas. not saying skunk is bad, never ran them. m sure owners of skunk 2 stuff will tell you they like them. i think its the way and where you are going to be driving more on the rpm band. but skunk are a lot cheaper in $ too
