Default Will I get big gains in my B16 from ITR cams?

I did a search, and I didn't really find what I was looking for as an answer. I've looked on sites like http://www.importreview.com. and still no luck. I know that if I do change the cams its best to change the valve springs retainers ect.

Has anyone here done this mod? what HP gains am I looking at? is it worth my while to do?

thanks

it will feel good, but will still feel stockish since they are stock cams. I hear its a good 5whp but i can't confirm this.

You'll see primarily mid range gains. You'll want something to move your x-over point as well.

DAmn that sux. I was planning to do the same thing to my b16 in hopes that it would give me like 15 extra hp. what do you think about crower and Skunk2 cams?

It'll be more than 5 hp. Probably more like 7 or 8 hp. You wont need to change your valve springs as long as you keep your stock rev limit. Its a worthy gain.

With CTR cams I gained 14whp with minor tuning on a JDM 2nd gen B16A. I guess the mods on the engine make a difference so here's my setup.

JDM B16a SIRII
2000 ITR tranny
Skunk2 ECU
Brullen Catback Exhaust
RS*R header
custom shortram intake
CTR cams
ITR valvetrain
AEM cam gears(set at +5 intake and +1 exhaust)

The 14 whp was gained with only the CTR cams and ITR valvetrain added and since then I have added the RS*R header.

I am getting a VAFC by next season so that I can take it straight to the dyno to tune it better I'm hoping to squeeze about 2-3 more WHP out of it.

It's hard to tell what kind of power you will get from the cams but I am living proof that CTR cams can make relativley good gains and for SURE more then 5WHP.

can you just throw ctr cams in a b16 or do you need to upgrade the valve springs?

Gains will be dependant on other mods and tuning. The peak power gained from these cams, while nice, is not much compared to the midrange that you will pick up from them. IMO, the midrange is way more important and makes them a worthy mod for the money.

As long as you don't rev past the stock rev limiter, then you don't NEED R valvesprings....but it never hurts.

also remember, that R cams usually kill more aggressive cams in the midrange area.

All CTR and ITR exhaust cams are the same.

2000+ ITR intake cams are the same as CTR's.

Here are the exact specs:

Civic Type-R And Integra Type-R(Integra Type R 2000/01 Spec)
Int-243 dur. / 11.5mm lift
Exh-235 dur. / 10.5mm lift

Integra Type-R(Through 1999 Spec)
Int-240 dur. / 11.5mm lift
Exh-235 dur. / 10.5mm lift

You won't feel any significant gains with just the cams, but get a good header, a good intake manifold, a good throttle body, and maybe just a touch of headwork, and you'll never go back.

That is the truth.

I just got back from the shop and installed my ported skunk 2 IM, 2001 ITR cams, portflow springs and mild port work and it feels SOOO much stronger.

The midrange is like a different car
