Never overheated, but did this morning... Ideas?
Hello everyone! I'm new to the Prelude portion of H-T, and I need some input... Have an 89 'Lude 2.0si, with a little over 174k on it. Car has been VERY good to me since I put it on the road this spring, after I blew the motor in my Civic...
Anyways... The motor has always ran cool, with the temp gauge right in the middle. However, this morning, I was in the McD's drive through, and stalled the car (wasn't paying attention to rpms). It hesitated when I tried to restart it, but started on the second turn of the key.
Placed my order, and pulled up to the window, and happened to look down and notice my temp gauge gradually climbing up and up and away... It went past the line before the H, and stopped. This McD's doesn't have a parking area after the drive thru, and it pulls right into traffic... Couldn't get out and check fluids when there were others behind me, so I pulled out, intending to pull into the next parking lot, but as soon as I started moving, and the cold air started circulating, the gauge returned to normal...
I was late for work anyways, so I just drove the 3/4 of a mile to work, and parked... I don't know what could have caused the car to heat up like that, but it seems to be back to normal... Any ideas on what to check first??
Thanks for reading, and thanks for any insight!

if the temp gauge goes up while at a stop.. then goes down when you start driving.. you probably just need to add water to the radiator and make sure you have no air bubbles in the system.. (ie. bleed the system) if not just add coolant to the resovior and add water to the radiator
