Its so loud that the cars around me look over to see whats making the noise. Im assuming its the catalytic converter (3" carsound). Anyone else had a problem like this? How loud is rod knock? What do u guys think it might be. tia.

 

heat shield rattling?

 

ive heard the heat shield rattle before, but never this loud. kinda sounds like cans dragging.

ok hit the catalytic with a mallet and it definately rattles. Can anyone recommend a better cat then carsound?

Check the "L" bracket coming off the top of the header and bolting to the back of the block.
I had that problem too, I had to grow some ***** and clime up under the car while my buddy reved the motor to find out exactially where the vibration was coming from.
if thats it (I've had two friends with the same exact problem) you might have to take the bracket out...find where the paint is worn down and Dremel that piece off.

It could also be your cat. touching the Swaybar or shift linkage, I've seen these problems also with my own two eyes.

it might be the cat converter pipe taht goes inside the header to seal the pipe.the pipe where cat converter was too long and it was hitting the walls of header for me. i have to replace the cat converter too.
