hello. i just recently had my car checked up with a couple of my boys and yea, my car fluxuates at around 1500 to 2000 rpm. what could cause the idle to fluxuate and how can i fix it? btw, i also noticed that when i get into the first gear, it feels like its so rough, but when you hit the gas at around 4 or 5, it feels smoother. i need all the help i can get. thanks.

 

have you set the idle... you said it fluctuates from 1500-2000... the only time the rpms should be that high is when you first start it up or when you are driving it, not at idle... so check that first... if thats not it then check for a vacuum leak... you might want to check the timing and valve adjustment just to rule things out... if that fails, it could be a burned exhaust valve(s)

 

could it be a bad intake manifold gasket? oh and btw, it fluxuates and idle's at 1000 to 1500 when in idle.
