Default Problems with gearbox...

I put a Spoon 1.5 way dif in the car awhile ago, and recently, I put Redline MTL in it. Well, there were a couple of problems with the MTL (it was way to light for this diff) so I went back to an 80w gear oil.

A couple of problems have surfaced:

1) it pops out of second gear
2) when reversing, clutch in, in gear, the car does not roll freely
3) strange 'chunky' feeling going into 3rd gear
4) doesn't shift all that well in general.

My question is, have I lunched the gearbox? I have spoken to guys at my shop and he said he has never heard of anything like this... has anyone else?

Would love some input here, for I am a bit puzzled.

Cheers

Woah. sounds like a problem I can't help.
Did you use the right weight oil for the diff from the start?

What kind of 80w gear oil are you using?

Try Honda MTF and see if that changes anything.

I am currently using a mineral based oil, and will get the appropriate synthetic when I get back to Vancouver.

I am more concerned about heavy damage to the gearbox though...

Wouldn't 80W gear oil be waaay to heavy for a transmission? Gear oil is typically for differentials, not transmissions.
