How can I make sure it's JDM???
hi, I'm quite fresh on this forum. I live in England (Brighton) I've just bought EG6 Civic 1.6VTi HB. what is the difference between B16a and B16a JDM engine? (I mean engine shape)

thats the only difference between the jdm and us couterparts, "physically" that is. Power out is another story, i would explain further but dont have time. Just go for the jdm versions if you can. More power in most cases.

Some engines built for JDM only produce their supposedly higher power output with 100 octane or higher fuel, which is why these engines were not exported in the first place.
Am I correct?

Maybe its different in Britain than Japan, but over there the VTi has the D16Z6. The 5th gen hatch with the B16A in Japan is the SiR. But if on the front of the engine it says B16A, then at least the block is from a B16A.

did everyone forget the usdm delsol b16?
plus the odds of you getting a usdm motors are slim. and from what i belive that the euro b16's are the same as the jdm. correct me if i am wrong.

I think mine must be JDM because we drive as japan (driving side) and I think they came from Japan, not made in UK.. (I'm not sure)
I know too many cars which came directly from japan and their driver too

higher compression = more horses in japan since they dont have emissions over there

You sure? never heard of a Z6 over in Britain. definately not gonna say you're wrong tho'.
Japanese VTi has D15b. SOHC VTEC.

I thought the D16z6 was the british Esi, like you say JDM Vti is D15B (I have one) If its import then you will have a rectangular shape numberplate tray on the back (unless its been swapped), slightly different suspension linkages, probably a pole at the front, cup holder, amber clock, maybe cilmate control etc... as for engine shape hmmm! A jap Vti will be SOHC, the spark plugs will be at the top of the rocker cover and the cover will be fairly small, A UK Vti will be DOHC and the spark plugs will be in the middle of the rocker cover which will also be bigger.. look for the code on the block... its to the left of the rocker cover down by the clutch...oh yeah ur turk off jspeed right? jspeeds back up now if you want to start posting again...

so, I have just seen it on the engine plate. there was written D16z or something like that. actually I am on holiday and my friend told me. I have been shock because I thought I was B16a2 (JDM) but it's not. so does anyone know what is the specification of that engine which I've got???

EDM 92-95 vti = b16a4 i believe....
USDM 92-95 delsol vtec = b16a3
usdm 96-00 delsolvtec, si = b16a2
