h23-turbo build up, need ur tips/tactics, info help secrets
gettin my h23 block soon, rod knock redoing the whole thing anyway... i need to know how big is too big to bore it and whats perfect. Im goin all out on it so let me know what is good and what is not. IM kinda new to Hseries so thats y im askin. Im lookin to go about 10:1 bored, sleeved, new bearings etc... also anyone with a boosted h23 thats built id like to see wat kinda #'s ur puttin down on the dyno.
Stock bore is 87mm and most of the H series shelf pistons are 20 over. Anything else is considered a custom piston and will run roughly $600. Darton sleeves can be bored out to accept a 89mm but that is kind of going overboard in my opinion.
Currently I am running a 88mm swain tech coated CP piston on my h23a with darton copper o-ringed sleeves and putting down 423whp @ 20psi.

did you order your darton sleeves and then have them installed
at a machine shop or did you send the block to them

I ordered my Darton sleeves from a company out in california and had a local machine shop install them locally (charleston, sc).
koo, did the machine shop also micropolish your crank?
just curious because i'm thinking about sending
my block to golden eagle to get everything done
resleeved, mp the crank etc.
there's not that many good machine shops in kansas city
are you using hondata s200

Yes i had the crank polished as well.
Make sure you send your cam-caps with your block when it is resleeved. Some people don't do that. When installing sleeves it is necessary for the MAIN BEARING caps to be fitting on after the sleeving process is done to make sure all of the tolerances did not change. I know another guy on the board did not send his cam caps in and all sorts of stuff was fubar.
I am currently running the hondata 4b. Next summer I will most likely upgrade to the s200 for the nitrous control feature.

Yeah he meant main caps..... which is sorta a give in, at least it should be, always send the mains with a block, even the hot tanks can thorw the tolerances off, I've seen it happen, its no big deal, they can just machine the cap seats or even bore the caps if necessary
Got me, look at your avatar...... if you came home with that, first I'd slap you, then I'd think WTF was he thinking........ anyway i think you'll find that you really won't need 20pi+ AND nitrous..... you'll have enough fun getting 20psi to a good tune up
GUDE h23: what compression are u running on ur set up to get 423whp? what kinda ft/lbs are u putting down as well?
Yea I figure the HA3-XTSS is not going to last forever. That will be replaced next summer, besides I am only running around 330whp on the street daily.
Good news... I will have some nice stage 3 gator axles hopefully next week

How much u want for the block? Thinkin of maybe gettin a backup block.(maybe after i refinance hah jk)
I had 9:1 je's runnin in some ge sleeves with a t3/t4b and made 311whp@1bar. But this was on pump, with leaking HG from ARP studs bein stretched, blown pistons, balancer shafts off.
I will be trying Venolia Pistons @ 8.8:1, tryin to get my turbo a little more into its max efficiency range.
