Help me decide on parts for my all motor non vtec B20
I already have a b20 block and I have a ported LS head. I want to put about 1500 more into it, what should I do? I want it streetable so I would like some input on which cams, valvetrain, pistons, rods if needed, etc. I want to make around 180 WHP. Thanks.
crower 404 cams with springs/retainers and about 11.5:1 or so will get you to 180 with a b20
thats about 700 for rods pistons
400 for cams
300 i think for spring retainers
then you need cam gears theres some going for 135 on HT
some form of tuning (chipped ecu for higher rev and vafc or hondata)
little over 1500 but it sa start. you also have gaskets belts ect and machine work

So I decided that it will be about 2000 instead of 1500 hopefully including some kind of tuning device. What do I need to do for fuel and tuning? Do I really need rods? Thanks
you might be able to get it goin for 1500.... just shop around but i gave you average prices. you dont really need rods for NA but with a b20 theres not alot of OEM style pistons in higher cr (i really really wish there were, if someone out there could make a 84mm ctr that would be sooo cool) and you need the higher CR so you need to go with aftermarket floating pin style pistons (stock are pressed). its easier to just get rods that are designed for floating pin rather than machining stock rods.
fuel you can get away with an afc but your gonna wanna raise that rev limit so a chipped ecu would be a good idea.

What do you guys think about B20 sleeves? Will they hold up good with this all motor setup? The reason I asked about rods is becaused I noticed that someone here had stock b20 rods with JE pistons.
now this is a real generalazation but when you start to run high NA comression or boost then you have to be concerned. most people ive seen have been fine 12:1 or lower. this doesnt mean that it will break but ive seen a few on honda tech that have.
you can use stock rods but they have to be machined to accept a floating pin piston.

id go with some EF-1 cams/valve train, cam gears, high flow cat and a hondata, also a clutch if needed..for more info on the cams go to http://www.ef-1.com or PM rocket on here and hell let you know any info you want to know and hook you up

Sorry to steal the topic, but I think it's pointless to start another B20 topic.
My question is.. can you safely bore out a B20 to 2.2L for daily driving and what mm pistons would you need? I'm aware that the block would need to be resleeved and such.

if you have a civic i would recommend a fuel pump. stock injectors should be fine but 270's or 310's would help you lower fuel pressures. if you want to be sure to hit 180 hp look into crower 405a's or crane #20's. your really gonna have to have a well tuned/ported setup to make 180 on 404's. these cams have a 200 hp potential.
also make sure you have a nice exhaust setup too.....

I have some higher CR piston for sale if you're interested.......
JE 84 mm 10:1 CR on a non-vtec. Easy to tune for on that sweet "burque" 91 octane.
Selling REAL cheap at $400. They are brand new. Still in the box and baggies they were shipped in.
