Default ARC intake

Can someone who understands the ARC intake explain to me how it performs better than most of the other intakes out in the market? I understand that it does suck in hot air rather than cold air like the stock setup or an AEM CAI. Is it because it sucks in so much more air that it's ok even though it's sucking in more hot air than other CAI?

ARC air box is designed to have the maxium volume for the box for best ON/OFF throttle response. You won't expect big increase in hp. There are ppl who runs them on the track.

Are you suggesting that other than immediate throttle response, most other aftermarket intake would outperform it horsepower wise?
I do remember someone here who said that it outperformed the AEM CAI in the horsepower department on the dyno.
BTW, is $570 USD a good price? Thanks.

I don't think anybody has dynoed the ARC against the AEM. I will dyno my setup when my Toda As arrive, but it is only a low-rent Si with the B16.

$570 for the Induction Box AND the Intake Chamber is a good price.

Shane - have you ever baselined your car? I want to see how many ponies you put down w/ your bolt-on mods. At the dyno this past weekend, an Si w/ bolton's, aem cai, dc header, apex'i N1 exhaust put down 148hp to the wheel. I'm sure you're probably near there or a few ponies above.

Yes!!! These inatke system works good with big cams. This intake smoothen the vtec changeover, it tries to elimate the power dip.

Sorry, Ben. Three times that I called you guys, it was Alan answering and taking my orders.

BTW, 14sec flat w/ just ARC intake? What else did you do to it on that run?

It was a while back ago and here are the stuff that I used to have in my civic:

Spoon B18C balanced/blueprinted engine
Spoon camgears
Spoon 4-2-1 header (older version)
Spoon clutch
Spoon flywheel
Spoon ECU
Spoon test pipe
ARC Intake system
JDM 5zigen exhaust system

It works pretty good by that time. However, I change my setup now so I am running with differents parts I always like to test different parts myself.

Ben,

I don't think that qualifies as a stock B18C motor - no offense.
