i've heard that you can use the accord dizzy cap for the use of an external coil instead of buying the msd one. has anybody done this? would it work? i think the cap would be from a 94 accord dx model.

 

has anybody heard of doing this? some guy on this board told me to do that, but i forgot his screen name.

 

I know I did it on my 90 accord. I used a 92-93 accord ex cap because they use an external coil. I haven't tried on my B18 yet, I use the Crane dist kit.

 

I use them on my b16... works great..

 

I use one on my car too. Don't remember the year though. Just had to drill a little hole for the wires. Works great.

You can buy a peice and modify your civic distributor cap.

I have been using a 94 Accord LX cap on my Y8. Works like a charm with MSD. I did find that using my stock button caused firing problems, so I used the 94 Accord button with no problems.

the whole point in buying the accord cap is so you dont have to modify your current cap. i still stick with the accord cap, an effective effortless install

thanks...yes its used to run an external coil. Same thing as using the accord external cap except you dont have to do anything to the accord cap to make it work, unlike with the tower...
