Default Open Secondaries

ok... i opened up my secondaries and started some butt dyno tuning with my VAFC.. the car "feels" a little better, but i was curious if anyone else has done this or has any ideas on the fuel alterations i should be making... my car is pretty stock aside from an intake, an FPR, and a VAFC...

please don't start with the ****, i know i'm probably losing some low end torque, but i'm looking for a better mid-high range powerband and getting more out of 4400RPMs and +

I'm not gonna flame, but it's pretty pointless to leave the secondaries open at all times with the mods you have listed. The secondaries were put there for a reason by Honda, of course to keep the torque curve nice and smooth. VTEC x-over is at 4400 for a reason as well. If you want to make some power, I would suggest ditching the GSR manifold, get a skunk2 manifold, header, exhaust, and maybe a mild port and polish, topped off by a larger TB. You may now change your VTEC x-over point to something a little higher, since the secondaries will no longer be present and you can maximize your top end power.

But for now, put your car back to stock, and even though it won't 'feel' as fast, it will be.

the reason it feels faster is because it is louder, as the second poster says, do some more mods, get a real aftermkt IM and go from there, no point in just opening the 2ndaries all the time, you lose so much down low it isn't worth the mid gain.

but it is your car, and if you feel that the lost low end is worth the minimal mid gain, go for it.

trying to tune V-AFC w/o dyno

secondaries open all the time you obviously wouldn't gain anything up top because they would be open anyway, and the engine would probably fall on its face if they are open during low RPM.

sorry about the had to do it anyway
