Hey i am going to the 1/4 mile in Gainesville next weds and i have no idea what to launch at. I have only launched it once since i have had the car. It was at 2500. My tires are pretty shitty too. Kumho Ecsta's. 205/55/16. Just give me some help.

trial and error is your best bet untill you get an rpm that works. You also have to take into consideration the track conditions

hmm with shitty tires do it around 1.5-2k or get some new tires before the weekend.

am i better off not trying to churp the tires or just try to get out of the whole as soon as possible. I have been to the track before but it was with my old auto lude. This is completely different and i just dont want to make a complete fool of myself when i burnout off the line.

oh god dont start with this again. All i want is help. Dont talk to me about numbers. Some one will get offended and the thread will get locked and i will get no help from that. SO please just give me suggestions about launching. I have only launched it once. It was bad though.

Please post up your times when you get back from the track. I am eagerly awaiting the results.

I would launch at first around 3kish rpm's then adjust it from there. Hold on though and be careful while driving, your motor sounds like a real beast.

Don't worry about making a fool out of yourself, whatever you do out there can't be much worse then what you've already done here.

For me, the best launches are around 5k. But considering you say you have shitty tires then I would just try different techniques. Start at 3k and go from there. Remember not to mash on the gas right off the line, this will cause more spin and possible wheel hop.

Just from a test drive on my friend's 5th gen w/ stock tires, I would say 5.5-6k w/ feathering the clutch. It's hard to determine which point to drop the clutch at, you have to rev it kinda high to get enough launching torque, so feathering it to keep traction makes things much easier.

i have only had the car for two months, and i didnt run it on the dyno. THe guy that owns the shop did it. And since there is really nowhere to race in Tallahassee, i have only launched once. And that was against an ls hatch.

here to make it easier, like the rest said start off at 3 then take it from there. best way is start at 3-4, then if its not working out, 4-5 if not 5-6, i woudl say the best launch would be a 5-5.5. and like they said since u have shitty tires, dotn just slam on the gas, feather it a bit.

well, you said you launched on a ls hatch, how was it? good or bad? you should konw off that launch on how to adjust. and go to a small street and practice your launch dude. but rem. track and streets is a big diff. but atlesat you will get a feel or an idea of how ur car is off launch.

i just recently went to the track , and it was alittle cold and damp, i had to launch at 2.5k to 3k and i still go wicked shitty 60' times, its all trial and error, you don't want to launch to low or the car will bog, but to high and you spin all the way thru first.

yep really all depends on your tires...better grip = higher launch...it takes practice!!!

also a few quick tips are to drop your tire press in the front to about 20psi and inflate the rears in the back, this will hepl you get better traction and have less rolling resistance
