When should I replace it? Any other things while dropping the tranny?

Edit: Can't afford clutch/flywheel combo yet.

Why dog eat his crap?

As long as you are inside the mission it is better to change the rerease bearing. If it is a bad then it will not turn fleely it may be difficult to turn the bearing. If you are not changing the crutch disc or cover or frywheel and you think it is better to change soon then you should wait to change everything.

It's Dennis, he'll find any reason to do anything to his car.

Replace it when you replace your clutch, PP, resurfaced flywheel, and pilot bearing.

I wouldn't go in to replace just a TO bearing. It's too big of a PITA. I know from personal experience, I've had my transmission out twice in the last 10 months!

And are you sure something is wrong with your TO bearing? I thought mine was bad too and replaced it with my clutch only to find out the noise was coming from my input shaft bearing (when clutch was out) not the TO bearing (when clutch was in).

The second removal was to get the tranny rebuilt (actually just the input shaft bearings replaced).

30k miles right now. Just wondering when it needs to be replaced. The tranny and clutch seem fine. Just being curious.

When it starts making noises when you drive.... Or, mine makes a slight noise when I'm at idle, with my foot off the clutch.

That's not your TO bearing making the noise. I just went through this. It's the Input shaft bearing (inside the transmission).

TO bearing is bad when you depress the clutch and it makes noise.

Input shaft bearing when the clutch is released (out) and it makes noise.

****. My tranny makes noise when idling off the clutch, and when I put it in, noise goes away. Kind of a jingly sort of noise. Same thing?

Guess this is a good excuse to save up for a JDM FD?
