Typically how much for labor to install..
camshafts, valves, valvesprings and titanium retainers..
this shop told me like 2g's mainly because of the valves..
and that they couldn't even do the install because it had to be done at a machine shop or something..
Please give me some insight on this.. this just totally changed my outlook on the NA route..

Any particular reason to replace the valves? if your stock valves are fine then i'd leave them alone.. i know plenty of fast n/a hondas with the stock valves. Also if you get oversized valves you're gonna have to machine the valve seats so the valves will fit.
cams, valvesprings, and ti retainers should do fine for now.. the install will be significantly cheaper too.. $2000 is way too much just for install

considered doing yourself? The camshafts and valve train are completely accessible to you. The bottom end is a different story, but even so I've only been quoted about 1000 for labour cost when working on the bottom end. Get a service manuel, even a haynes or something like that explains it all.
The entire install can be done with the engine in the car. I'd say go back and slap them in the face. That's seriously outrageous.
I would set the car on blocks and spend all of your freetime working on it. It's not like you can drive to work while it's at the shop anyway. Buy a Helms manual. Get some good tools (manual will tell you everything). Spend one week, but it won't take nearly as long and take your time.
I would definitely do it this way if I had some cams to install.
good luck
