Default Sluggish Auto tranny

I bought a 98' Accord with 75k on it. I've been driving manual cars for the last 10 years so I'm not sure about this. It seems like the car is slow to drop into first gear when slowing to a stop or doing a rolling stop. Sometime I hit the gas and the tranny doesn't adjust quick enough for demanded load. It tries to go in the current gear and then drops down. Basically a 2 second delay or so. Any ideas??

thats basically the way accord auto trannys are. i used to have one in my old accord (may she rest in peace) you could try changing out the fluid but i don't really think that would do anything

yah, it's normal. accord tranny's sometimes have a delay between shifts cuz they're designed to remain in the same gear when you're on a hilly road, rather than constantly downshifting. i've yet to find a road where this has proved anything but an annoyance...

Yep mine does the same, first of all I'd like to do why you bought an auto Accord probably the worst thing you can spend your money on... I made the same mistake a few years ago, learned the hard way of course.

Well, this is my first Honda auto tranny. I think the Honda could have done a better job unless there's something wrong with the tranny. I'm so used to having the car in the gear I know I'm gonna need... it's strange going from a manual to an auto. I wonder if there are any ECU mods available......

Not at this time. Level10 and Protech tried, but Honda A/T ecu's are trickier than ****. They could never get it right.

The only thing I've heard of that actually worked, was a guy on the AEM EMS forum got a EMS Supra A/T ecu to work. That's tricky also.

The best thing for you to do would be to swap to manual, or throw down some real $ and get a Level10 or Protech tranny.(or custom )
