Default MY CAR NED AN EXORCIST

My car is driving me crazy! Its a 2000 5 speed 'Lude with 80K.

It started with "clicking"power door locks, I'd press the switch, the doors would lock followed by a series of clicks for a few seconds. That was a couple of month ago, now, I've got a host of things that go along with this.

1) Sometimes when I pull on the window switch, the doors lock.

2) If I try to start the car with the drivers door open, the lock will have a fit, locking themselves and then clicking madly for a few seconds.

3) Sitting in the car, the interior light comes on and goes off whenever it wants to.

4) Sometimes, when I touch the door panel, the interior light will come on, without touching any of the switches.

5) If the door is closed and the doors are unlocked. the doors will lock themselves when I start the car.

I started a thread about the clicking locks a couple of months ago. At that time someone replyed that there is a module in the drivers door that controls the power locks. Could this module be tied into the control of the power windows, the interior light and the ignition switch? OR could it be the switch on the door that lights the interior light when the door is opened? Could all these functions be passing thru one switch.???

If so, this seems a pretty pi$$ poor way of designing things. I thought Hondas were supposed to be reliable and trouble free cars. With the problems I've had with mine, I'm starting to wonder

Considering your car is a 2000, wouldn't it still be covered under warranty? Why don't you take it back to the dealer?

Do you have an keyless entry alarm system in your car? Judging by the problems you've listed, my guess would be a short or loose wiring somewhere in your door panels maybe?

you have a short to ground dude. only way to find it is to trace it out with a multimeter or replace everything till it stops.

Car is no longer under warranty. Now at 80K, but I do have the extended service plan up to 100K. I'm planning on taking it to the dealer next week, hoping the service plan will cover it. That will mean I'll only have to pay the deductable ($50). Just trying to get an idea of what it might be or what may be involved in fixing it so I know if the dealer is giving me a line or making me pay for something I don't need.

Posted this on another board and some of the people there thought someone may have tried to install an after market alarm at one time. As far as I know, the car is completely stock. I bought it new at the Honda dealer and the car had a build date of 10/99 and I bought it in 2/00 with 70 miles on it. Is it possible that someone at a dealership may have tampered with the car before it was sold to me as new???

U know that your extended warranty only covers replacement parts...not labor. You're gonna pay close to any other Joe Schmoe for this repair.
